Vision

In my portraits and paintings, I have adopted an expressive abstract illustrative style in order to visually communicate the intensity of spiritual transformation. I aim to address the conceptual significance and beauty of spirituality as a universal human experience that affects us all.

Each portrait, adorned in a headpiece of two types of flowers, symbolizes the emotions that work together to create an individual’s personality and state of mind. To achieve this, I employed alternating white and black backgrounds with bursts of watercolour contouring the eyes to accentuate the different layers of spiritual change. To further develop this idea, smaller abstract watercolour paintings on black enhance the intensity of metanoia as a spiritual transformation that grows ‘from the inside out’.

Curious abstract imagery and vivid colours also intend to offer renewed perspectives that encourage my audience to question the role of spirituality in their personal lives.

You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.”
